Breakaway Roping
This year Bobbe McMillan regained the title
as Champion Breakaway Roper after winning in 2005. She won seven different competitions enroute to a record setting
year. She kept very busy as she also competed in the Team Roping and Barrel Racing events, not to mention she served
as a pickup rider in the rough stock events.

Saddle Bronc Riding
2008 was the breakout year for MSU superstar Kalyn Beasly.
He caught fire early and won several events enroute to blowing away the competition for the year-end buckle. He actually
broke the arena record in Superior with an 84 point ride on Pecos Bill and broke the West Yellowstone arena record on the
last night of the Finals with an 85 point score on Raven - a horse who had not been ridden in the last 37 attempts over a
two year span. WOW!!!

Barrel Racing
The 2008 Barrel Racing was a crazy roller-coaster ride all season.
Many different ladies took top honors over the course of the season. Bobbe McMillan, Amy Vermandel, Kelsey Hutchison,
Jessie Spencer, and Katie McMillan went head to head in the points standing. All five had a chance to win the title
heading into the final weekend. In fact, it came down to very last run of the season where Kelsey Hutchison came through
under pressure with a 17.04 second run. Congratulations 2007 Champion - Kelsey Hutchison!!

Bull Riding
Bull Riding was the only event this year that had a repeat winner.
Hometown Hero and West Yellowstone resident Aubrey Smith came out on top for the second year in a row. The fan-favorite
had a great year with several spectacular rides including: 79 points on Tower Station, 86 points on Cataclism, and 89
points on defending champion Bucking Bull Gangbuster. However, it came down to the Finals in August to crown Aubrey
as Butte, MT cowboy Rob Mattson was close on his heels the whole way. The champ pulled through while all his fans
cheered him on!!
